Creating a case for View-Master reels

in craft •  4 years ago

While snow is slowly covering the ground with a white blanket on this cold Sunday in February, I get my knife and glue out to create a portfolio case to keep my rather small collection of View-Master reels in.

After taking measurements from the reels, I cut panels out of greyboard. I use a squared triangle to cut at 90 degree angles and a steel ruler to cut against.

I glue the panels to a piece of covering material with pva glue.

I cut around the panels and fold the covering material over the inside of the case.

The case will be held shut with two ribbons, so these I attach by gluing them to the panels.

After covering the inside, the case is ready. It can hold six sets of three reels.

This was my first attempt at making a portfolio case like this. Although it did not turn out perfect, I am quite happy with the result. It is a good, little project for on a cold winters day and I am sure that I will do something similar again.
