I'd be very careful about buying ETC, its not likely to have decent dev support.

it has all the dev support ETH has

Read Vitalik's post and explain to be me why you think it has the same dev support as ETH: https://steemit.com/ether/@blocktrades/important-news-about-using-eth-and-etc-from-vitalik

Anything devs code for ETH will run on ETC, right? So, the work devs do on ETH benefits ETC too. Even so, I don't see reason for the two chains to exist side by side. Ultimately the one with the most liquidity will win and, given ETH's head start, that would be my bet.
But, I don't have to bet since I now own equal amounts of both thanks to the fork. Pretty cool. I win either way.

According to the whales who posted their support letter for ETC the foundation have to legally support ETC as it is the original chain. Not sure how accurate that is. Would need someone more familiar with the legal intricacies to make a judgment on it.
Also with ETC taking off and gaining as much support it is - how long will it be until some real developers see the opportunity and jump on board to start working on it independently of the foundation. Money talks.
The markets have breathed life into something that everyone thought was dead. Right now ETH is just as much of a risk as ETC. The markets will decide which is the safer bet.
Edit: Seems Coinbase and Kraken are going to post an "update" on ETC support shortly. Looks like ETC could be getting even bigger.

"legally support ETC as it is the original chain" -> This is utter BS. It's quite clear from Vitalik's post that Etherium devs DO NOT plan to support Ether classic: https://steemit.com/ether/@blocktrades/important-news-about-using-eth-and-etc-from-vitalik How are you misreading that?

Whether they do or not is irrelevant. Someone else will. I fear you are being blinded to the truth by personal bias.

It's not irrelevant; I can only assume you don't know a lot about software development if you think this. It's quite difficult for a new set of programmers to work on a code base they didn't write, especially without aid from the original coders. Also, I have no idea where you got the idea I have a personal bias, I'm not even a real Ethereum supporter. I just don't like to see the distortions of fact being put out by the ETC camp as I think it's originating primarily from scammers.

@blocktrades "It's quite difficult for a new set of programmers to work on a code base they didn't write, especially without aid from the original coders"
You mean like Bitcoin? Fact is if there is enough money there will be developers who will develop for it. The idea that it is just scammers supporting ETC is laughable whether you admit to bias or not you are.

cool, I sent 1 btc to poloniex cause I wanted to buy at .0022, but chickened out and sent it back to coinbase, then it took off and i had to wait for transfer from coinbase to buy back again, got in at .003, and still buying, i have a buy at .0023 now, and that will be 2btc worth of ETC.. then I will hold for a while, but if it takes a big dip I will probably panic sell at a loss

TBH this #craigrant tag is not bringing any more Steem Power to the people using it. Its maybe just helping you out by creating a reputation inside the Steemit community and appearing as a widely used tag. #keepitreal

You have to be very careful when looking at ETC as something to flip and trade short term. For me I got in cheap and I held. It is a speculative bet that ETC will go up to $5 or more. A long shot, but that is why it is a gamble. The market is going to be very volatile. I am too scared to buy where it is trading right now ($2), I am content with the number I have. I probably would only buy again if it goes below .0012BTC again which I do not expect. Bitfinex may be trading it as early as Wed, so this could make a big difference. ETC is perfect for you, as your super human power is holding :), I bought in at $2, and if it takes a dive to $1, I might panic sell for a loss

:) Yes I do enjoy the buy and hold strategy. No panic! Buying in at $2 is bold, but you need to have the "go down with the ship" mentality if you see it drop to $1 because it could easily go up to $3 soon after. Look at the insane volatility of the last 24 hours. Anyway keep in mind how early on this is and how few exchanges have it. Also many Bitcoin people feel this is the perfect chance to play in the Ethereum space now that this version is not corporately controlled. There is a lot of psychology that is going into all of this and it could really lead to a boost of ETC long term. It really could become an equal to ETH, this concept was something that was not even considered a week ago. Things change fast in crypto-land. Keep up the great work.
