To all my fellow event lovers,
The internet was created to bring humans together and make us equal participants of something greater. However, seems like so far this did not work out. Our data is being used and some people seem to have surrendered to the fact they don't have privacy anymore. I hope that with platforms like steemit we can finally find ways to get away from facebook and co.
Unfortunately, I spent way too much time on Facebook myself, simply because there are too many reasons why Facebook is useful. Like events for example. I have a passion for all sort of things that keep the city buzzing. But so far facebook was the only (but not good) way to find my events.
I would love to create something better for events. Something good enough for people to not rely on FB anymore.
About a year ago I had this business Idea for a platform where a smart algorithm uses the data of your mobile calendar, a profile of interest and an agreed budget to search for events that suit you, your time and budget. That way you would not have the pain to go on facebook and spend hours reading descriptions and in the end finding out that the event is too expensive for you. Events you like would only show up if you are available and it is in your price range.
Now that I am reading more about decentralized businesses and blockchain, I am starting to think about a new form of a platform. Imagine we could create something with the use of blockchain where private event creators and unknown musicians would be rewarded. Imagine each participant who adds something (art, a workshop, decoration, lights, food, transportation to the venue etc.) could be rewarded in an interconnected tokenized system, based on blockchain. Maybe a small participation could give you a small reward (like a discount the entrance fee), but your participation could be voted for and if it was great you will earn money. (stealing this thought from steemit, lol)
People who have an idea for an event like a festival, could suggest it in advance and see if there is enough interest out there to get the courage to go for it.
This idea just popped in my mind a few minutes ago and still sounds rather utopian. Also, haven't done much research yet. Let me know if it already exists and if you like it :D
Cheers!
