Crested geckos make very cool pets. They are harmless and small. They are also easy to care for. That is why they have become one of the most popular pets in the world. Easyer then bearded dragons, which I have both. Bearded dragons take more time to care for and cost more to take care of, they eat more and require more heat which raises your electric bill.
Housing: A 20 gallon tank is enough to house one or two created comfortably it should be taller then it should be wide. There should be enough fake plants and vines for them to climb and hide.
Lighting: crested geckos are naturally nocturnal. Crested geckos should have around 10 or less hours of light a day not much more because it can cause stress. It best not to put a light on the enclosure because most lights put off heat and any heat over 85f or under 65f is deadly to them so room lighting is efficient.
Humidity: Humidity level should be around 70% to 80%. which you will have to spray them daily to keep the humidity levels up. It is best to spray early in the mornings and late at night and let the tank dry in between sprayings to help prevent mold.
Feeding: There diet is very simple. They can be fed crickets occasionally. There crickets can also be dusted with calcium and multi-vitamin powder every third feeding. But most of there diet will consist of crested gecko diet which you can get from online or any local pet store. It is a powder that is mixed with water to the consistency of apple sauce.
Water: Most people say to provide fresh dechlorinated clean water but as long as you don't for get to spray them they will be fine.

Today, they are listed as protected and no new ones are brought in to the country from there native land New Caledonia. If crested geckos lose their tails they will not grow back like most geckos.
