9 years ago, (2014-15) I was studied at secondary board highschool,in game period, me along with my friends, started playing cricket. Opponent team captain sourav khillar denied to select me on his team, so, I requested Dipta sundar sahoo, another captain, who selected me and involving in his playing 11.
Opponent team batted too well, and scored a total of 75 on 8 overs, in just four wickets, that was captain sourav's 1st fifty, he scored 53 in just 17 balls. That was end of 1st innings.
In 2nd innings, time for our batting. Dipta sundar (captain) and aditya moharana two batters going for open, Dipta sundar Hits two consecutive boundaries and out in next ball. (0.3 overs). And just wickets were started falling, subhasish mishra contributed 41, but that's not enough for win. Just 7 runs required in 2 balls, opponent team captain sourav, takes the crucial wicket of subhasish mishra. And the last wicket have to fall, opponent team excited and started to celebrate.
Our captain Dipta sundar, wanted a declare that Our team lost, I denied him, and tell him ‘‘Believe in me. I will have to bat, and I can win you. ’’
Dipta sundar laugh loudly and said, you an nonexperienced batter will win us in last two balls. It's your dream buddy, not reality. He also said ‘‘sourav, we don't declare, let him to bat. ’’
Sourav said why we waste our time, another match possible in that interval. So leave the match. But Dipta denied it for my satisfaction.
I batted first delivery of captain sourav, and sent the ball over him, down the ground for a 6's. Our captain Dipta shocked and started applaud. In next ball I hit sourav's second delivery at third man and ran for single, and we won that match.
The point is never underestimate anyone. No doubt sourav is best bowler on that team, but captain dipta underestimated my skill due to my appearance and physical health. Physical health matters in sports, but the courage is a big factor, a player should have, to win any kind of match.
We have an example like Ravindra Jadeja. Thanks. That's all.
