On July 1, 2018, at around 11:30, the three neighboring residents, Gurcharan Singh, Kuldeep Singh, and Pritpal Kaur, went to investigate the Bhatia family (originally Chundawat), who had a store for groceries but was not opening the store at the time of the opening (which usually opened at 5:30 early in the day) or taken liquid milk daily from the milkman and was not answering the calls of neighbors, they discovered the main entrance open, as it was closed from the inside. After they had walked to the upstairs area, they were shocked to see the family members hanging off an iron grill hung on the roof's ceiling in a circular pattern. The tenth family member female was hanging directly opposite them. Their mother was in the room behind them, lying on the floor near her mattress. The family members were blindfolded, their hands and feet bound, and they were hanging themselves.
