Here I am Lucia again trying to find a good and virtuous topic to inscribe and share at the same time to learn about.

So the topic for today is "Sexual Abuse of Children".

A court recently helped in Australia to investigate the sexual abuse of children. The stories that were presented are not only amazing in number but in detail. The crimes cover all denominations of religion and the perpetrators range from priests to teachers and caregivers. Apparently, no one is above victimization if a child is in the right place at the right time for a predator to take advantage of it.

Sometimes there are multiple predators that can target one or more victims in a class or orphanage. The latter have seen many children who are already suffering used by men to satisfy their sexual impulses or perversions.

Children who are in such situations are probably already alone and looking forward to an adult company, since they are far from their normal family home. This is an opportunity for an adult like that to get the favor. If he is a priest or a teacher, he can grant favors and offer advantages for which an innocent person could easily fall.

No matter what the child's circumstances, they do not justify this type of criminal behavior. While the Court heard of hundreds of people who were sexually abused, the biggest surprise was how many were in costly private schools at that time.

Vulnerable victims in that case can include children who are in broken homes and who feel the horror of divorce. A sympathetic ear or an impartial adult is a likely shoulder to lean on and predators do not miss the opportunity to attack.

Some of these cases involved children of single mothers who worked hard to give their children a good education. As it is mostly men who are affected in the latter situation, children will be reluctant to tell their mothers something about such an event. Feeling that they are the 'man' of the family staying with something like this has done a huge damage.

While courts are now struggling to hear the multitude of cases against predators, many are resolved in private. This happens mainly when private schools need to protect their reputation. Meanwhile, more and more complaints of sexual abuse are coming to the fore.
