YouTube is the ultimate source of knowledge for todays generation. This social media platform is hugely popular for showing us how to do simple and complex things to ease our everyday life apart from keeping us entertained by entertaining videos. Be it cooking, cleaning or operating, there are videos that would explain how it is done.

It was absolutely fine till people referred to YouTube to get ideas on how to cook and clean, but it got real serious when a man in southern India's Tamil Nadu tried his wife's delivery at home all with the help of a YouTube video. Yes, you read it absolutely right. He tried delivering a baby at home, without the supervision of an expert, all by watching a YouTube video.

The incident came to light when 28 year old Krithiga was rushed to a hospital with excessive bleeding. Doctors at the hospital declared her dead on arrival. During investigation it was found out that she had died out of postpartum hemorrhage. Had she received timely medical treatment she would have been all healthy.

29 year old Karthikeyan was arrested right away and so were his friends Praveen and Lavanya who favoured the natural birth at home and helped Karthikeyan deliver baby at home without the help of any medical practitioner.

krithiga's father claimed that Karthikeyan had denied any medicines or health supplements to her during the course of pregnancy. The case has come as a shocker to health officials who are seeing YouTube as a potential threat to mankind.

Self medication is good, but overdoing it may be harmful. Take the help of a doctor when needed. If everything was so easy, students would not spend precious years of their life studying books that weights more than a ton.
