After a relatively slow start to the crypto market, the total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies has once again broken $ 500 billion today, February 17, according to CoinMarketCap. The total capitalization of the market is currently around $ 502 billion at the time of publication.
Bitcoin (BTC) has remained well above the $ 10,000 mark, currently operating at $ 10,830 and rising nearly 7 percent in a 24-hour period at the time of publication. Ethereum (ETH) is close to exceeding the threshold of $ 1000, operating at $ 969, almost 3 percent above in a period of 24 hours at the time of publication.
Of the ten main currencies listed in CoinMarketCap, only Litecoin (LTC) is in red, 3 percent less at the time of publication. Earlier in the week Litecoin saw an increase in price following the announcement of the upcoming launch of a LTC-fiat payment service, and a planned fork that the creator of Litecoin called a "scam". LTC currently trades around $ 227.
The constant rebound in prices could have caused the bullish news that an anonymous operator bought around 41,000 Bitcoin between February 9 and 12, worth around $ 440 million today, Marketwatch reported. The purchase allegedly raised the BTC address to more than 96,000 BTC, or just over $ 1 billion.
