Crochet catipillar

My oldest daughter is having another squish in Oct. We don't know the gender but considering it's 6 for 6 girls (different parents, oldest is working on her 3rd, none of them want that many kids haha)
Since it's a fall baby I did a fall colors. She insisted on the purple lol I'm iffy on that for fall. I prefer greens, browns, yellows, & reds.
I'm waiting to be completely sure about the gender before I do it's face - on the off chance that we actually get a boy this time.
The catipillar is 17" long - and at least 6" in diameter.
I used a combination of a ball and doll pattern. I don't usually write patterns but this is what I did:

Magic circle
6 single crochet
2 sc into each stitch = 12
2 sc, then 1- repeat = 18
2 sc, then 2 - repeat = 24
2 sc, then 3 - repeat = 30
2 sc, then 4 - repeat = 36

7 rows of sc = 36 stitches

Decrease, then 4 sc
Repeat = 30 stitches

Decrease, then 3 sc
Repeat = 24 stitches

Decrease, then 2 sc
Repeat = 18 stitches

Color change for next section

1 row sc = 18 stitches

Increase, then 2 sc
Repeat = 24 stitches

Increase, then 3 sc
Repeat = 30 stitches

Increase, then 4 sc
Repeat = 36 stitches

7 rows of 36 stitches

Repeat from decrease until you have the number of sections you want

Once all sections are done:
2 single crochet, then decrease
Repeat = 9

Crochet 2 stitches together all the way around. There will be 1 left over stitch

Fasten off, leave a long string, and sew around so you can pull the top closed

I'm happy to answer any questions about this pattern

This is the catipillar:
