Welcome to crocheting class (5th week of Steemit Engagement Challenge season 20) where we are still learning and exploring through different types of crochet styles. This week, we're proceeding to a new one called granny squares.

During lessons, I have learn that granny squares give us opportunity to create centerpieces, sweaters, cushions, pencil cases, cell phone holders, dresses, purses and lot more.

After acquiring this knowledge, It motivated me to present my homework for this week. In crochet making, I'm still an apprentice so as such, your corrections is highly welcome.

Make the frist round of granny squares. Support your activity with videos or collages and at least one photo of the finished work.

I begin my frist round of granny squares with making a knot, this was not difficult for me because I have gotten a clear understanding on how to make a knot some weeks ago during lectures. I proceeded in making a 4 chains and inserted my hook into the first chain to form a ring.

I continued my work by making a chain of three and also two double crochet stitches.

Thereafter, I continued with two chain stitches and also made three double crochet stitches, I continued doing the same and formed four groups of double crochet stitches, separated from each other by two chain stitches. I continued till the last point where l close the first round of granny squares a slip stitch.

From the picture above, your can see that I have tried my very best to form my first squares. Currently at home, I don't have plenty yarn, so I would use this same yarn to practice over and over again, that is the reason why my yarn look so rough. 😂

My frist video

Here is the video of my first round of granny squares.

Make the second round of granny squares. Support your activity with videos or collages and at least one photo of the finished work.

In the second round, I start with making a chain of three stitches and after that a double crochet. I carefully passed the loop in reverse and also carry out a chain and two double crochet to form the first group.

Final work for second round

I continued with a chain stitch and make three double crochet stitches in the corner, then two chain stitches which will help me have a square shape at the corner of my work.

In that same space, I continued in making another group of three double crochet stitches. I gradually repeat the process till the closing of my fabric with a slip stitch.

Video for second round

Make the third round of granny squares. Support your activity with videos or collages and at least one photo of the finished work.

The third round of granny squares is the repetition of what I did in the second round of granny squares that is making the first group of double crochets in reverse which is to the left.

I separated each group of double crochets with a chain stitch and at every corner, I added three double crochets, I added two chain stitches and make three double crochets in that same corner. I continued till I finish with slip stitch.

Final work.

I use scissor to cut off my granny squares, trimmed the beginning of my work and use lighter in removing the rough part of the yarn thereby arriving at a neat granny squares.

Share a selfie of your finished project.

At this point, I was extremely delighted to complete my assign tasks, although I had difficulties in making the corners which was adding of two chain stitch but I finally achieved what look like one through repeating the use of my instructor's video. He played a vital role in my achieving this.
