Every Chinese New Year, families in South Korea gives traditional Lunar New Year pocket money to children and young adults. But this year instead of fiat currency, they’ve instead received it with Bitcoin.

Adult A who is unnamed mentions that every year he gives his cousins ‘fiat pocket money’ but, now the elementary and middle school kids asked him if they can instead receive it in ‘online giftcon card’ which can be used as cash, for their mobile games.

There recently was a survey on a Jobkorea portal net, that over 1,300 people contributed and over 93% of them agreed they will be giving some kind of pocket money to their younger cousins and 6.4% of them thought otherwise.

With mobile gaming industry booming the Asia market, I can see how the future will run completely with privately owned coins for different gaming companies within the next five years.
