As you probably know by now, Microsoft stopped accepting bitcoin as a payment method. The reason they are giving is that bitcoin is too volatile and it may impact their financial planning.

I think that is false. Or at least that is not the complete reason.
Sure, bitcoin is volatile, but that shouldn't stop one of the greatest and most innovative technology companies in the world. Don't they want to be part of the unprecedented revolution? Do they really think bitcoin is too volatile? But... don't they support other cryptos themselves?! What about IOTA?
If Microsoft starts accepting other cryptos as a method of payment, then we will have the real reason why they stopped supporting bitcoin. Then we will know that they are using their massive size to give their crypto-protege a (borderline fair) advantage. Just look at Facebook's plans to launch their own cryptocurrency (and force their billions of users to use it.)
