BREAKING: Microsoft has reportedly acquired GitHub or is close to doing so.

in crypto-news •  7 years ago

The deal could be announced on Monday.

This news is breaking but there is no shortage of links and articles to back this up.

If this is true, I personally do not like this..... Microsoft is a proven globalist who does not care about liberty or freedom, only profit and their agenda seems dark.

It seems they have been trying since 2016.

Very interesting move by Microsoft

Thanks for the information!

Gitlab FTW

Not sure how I feel about that... I'm already at odds with MicroSnot's "forced update" policies... that sometimes makes people's computers crash. I can't see how a mega-corp taking over GitHub could be good for anyone but a few executives' pocketbooks....

I dislike them, I could write for days on that.

This could possibly be the biggest news of the day. If anybody knows anything about blockchain, then they know what github is.
I am not sure if I should take this news it in a positive manner. It worries me. The idea of things being opensource is much more comfortable with no strings attached. Now that github could have a giant corporate entity in the tow, it could mean strings attached. Of course in this era nothing is overt but still...............

I was TLDR on this.

I don't like MS or this news.

I could be wrong but I’m inclined to call shenanigans on this. This move would be completely antithetical to the entire idea. This seems a little too contrived to me. I have not looked into it any further than reading this but I think there is something fishy about this. Thanks for the post @barrydutton!

I feel the same as opposing values...

but then again, MS has no values really. ...

I think of all the companies/websites that they have bought and killed over the years and it makes me nervous
