What is it?

First of all, please note, that I don't write the press releases, I am not a writer and this is just my blog that I am writing with my broken english because I am a part of equibit. You might be doing a lot better by going to the site and reading about it there. But, as CTO, I know a few things.

Equibit is an OTC trading platform that uses blockchain technology. It fixes many of the issues with current OTC trading.

What is OTC?

OTC is over the counter trading. It's when you trade stocks, bonds, and other instruments outside of an exchange. Its a much bigger market than an exchange.

Why blockchain Tech?

There are some features of blockchain that are perfect for such a system. Also, we wanted it to be unstoppable and future proof. We thoughts blockchain would be the way to go.

What are its Features?

For the complete list, please visit the site. However, let me talk about some of the features I think add the most value.

  • Equibit Blank Securities: Before a security is created, you need a blank security. Those have a value on the market. This prevents someone from issuing worthless securities, and creates a floor on the value. If the security is worth more blank, guess what? It will be made so.
  • Poling and communication: In regular OTC markets, polling and communications cost a lot of money. Still done with paper and mailing. Ridiculous in this day-and-age. We do it instantly, securely, and for free.
  • Legality: Yes, we did the research (more like our lawyers) and this is on the up-and-up. We did have to make some changes where certain securities require someone to prove they are an accredited investor. Its up to the issuer to do the rest.
  • Bank Level Security: As much as others can implement their wallets how they like, our online wallets will use a hardware security module and implement bank level security measures, or better.
  • Abstraction Layer API: We will have an API for big banks and other large companies to use that will abstract the blockchain technology. They will think they are using an advance OTC system. Not only that, but our systems are hosted alongside most big banks in the same secure data centers making connecting with them trivial.

Hasn't this been done before?

Nope, not like this. Unless there is a new one that has escaped our research.

When will this be available?

We are hoping to release our beta version this fall.

Where can I ask a question?

Below in the comments, I will do my best to answer what I can.
