Korean Police has launched investigation on cryptocurrency outflow of exchange Conrail
June 13TH, 2018
Police have been investigating a case of cryptocurrency being leaked from the Coinrail(Korea 's cryptocurrency exchange). A member of the National Police Agency's Cyber
Investigation Department said, "We received basic information to check the facts on the spot after receiving a report from Coinrail".
The police are going to check whether the virtual money outflow is due to the actual hacking, or whether there is a problem with the network, through data analysis. Coinrail announced that about 30% of its cryptocurrencies, including Fund X, Aston and Enper, had been leaked due to a hacking attack the day before.
Coinrail is the world's 90th small and medium-sized exchange based on 24-hour trading volume. According to the industry, about $ 40 billion in cryptocurrencies has been leaked, including $ 21 billion of Fund X and $ 14.9 million of Aston. This is the largest amount due to hacking damage in the domestic exchanges.
Coinrail stopped trading at 2:00 am on October 10, went into server inspection, and two-thirds of the coins that were confirmed to leak out were either withdrawn or stopped trading and asked the police to investigate.
