Well Hacking does not need specilized skill when it comes to Crypto Hacking .. it can be simple as well can be very complex process ..
In major cases it was internal party involved who just need to have access of Private keys. or there is a laps of mishandling funds like not using multi-sig wallet or not keeping funds in coldstorages etc..
So if you are a long term investor in this space then better you should manage your funds by your own by taking many simple majors i.e. use Paper wallet, HW wallets, native wallets or any core wallet which does not hold your private keys. example for ETH or any ERC20 tokens one of the best open source wallet is My Ether Wallet.
