For all those getting into bitcoin.

IMG_3392.PNG Fist let me say welcome! Bitcoin has a great backing and a wealth of knowledge behind it. I would suggest looking into this project and really understanding the technology, and scope of the system. If you understand and believe in what you're investing into you will be far less likely to sell for a loss. It's been a wild ride lately and if I can give any advice it would be:

  1. Never invest more than you're willing to lose. Some people think they can get rich quick and spend much needed rent money only to have the market crash and lose everything. Which leads me to...

  2. If it seems to good to be true, it usually is. Unfortunately, there are a lot of scam sites out there promising to double or triple your coins, free wallets ripping people off, etc. do your research and make a decision on what's best for you.

  3. Hold on and see where this goes, people looking to day trade or margin trade (which I don't recommend) can skip this. But the market is up and down like crazy everyday. I'm a big fan of time in the market is > timing the market.

  4. Invest in a good wallet. I recommend a hardware wallet for the extra protection especially if you're holding an amount of coins you'd rather not lose and have no intention of selling or trading soon. Exchanges go down and you don't own your private keys, if you don't own the keys you don't own the coins. A hardware wallet gives you a sense of actual ownership, mainly because you actually own them. But seriously phone wallets are good too. Again, do your research and see what fits your own situation.

  5. Have fun and spread the word. Buying and being a holder of bitcoin or other crypto is fun and exciting, it's relatively new in the grand scheme of things and having an opportunity to make money is never a bad thing.

Everyone wishes they could have got in at the ground floor when bitcoins were less than 12 dollars. A lucky number of people did, far fewer still have their bitcoins and I bet if you asked them they'd wish they never sold. Who knows what the worth of a bitcoin will be tomorrow $10,000? $1,000,000? $0? The only thing I know for sure is that blockchain technology will be one of the few great advancements in technology for years to come.
The applications of blockchain technology are endless and it's still in its infancy. So technically we are still on the ground floor. Recent media coverage (unfortunately negative) regarding the ransomware attacks brought bitcoin into the light, but it still isn't mainstream yet. When your grandma starts asking about that "bit of coin" then you should probably start thinking about selling... but we're still early and there's still time to own what very may well become a small piece of history. I wish you all the best and hope this post helps with your endeavors into bitcoin and other crypto currencies.

For hardware wallets - I recommend the Ledger Nano S (although there's a huge delay in shipping times due to demand).
