Hodl is a misspelled word turned into philosophy, motto, life-chant and even identity. Isn't it funny how things happen?
Do you guys know how this HODL thing came ot be? A lot of people don't. What bothers me is that a lot of people don't even wonder.
But new smart people do. It's interesting that upon hearing this the first time people will laugh and be amused. After a while, you laugh when you hear "HOLD". Bro, you misspelled hodl...
Anyway, HODLING! I've talked about this before but it's on my mind these days with market yo-yoing and with the new people either panicking or shouting HODL! from the top of their damn lungs. Keeping this close, like a shield against the big bad world wanting to push BTC back to 1$. We HODL!
Two things:
#1. It all started with this post right here, a post that made history. Interesting that this guy was right and he's maybe very rich today. He was the original HODLer. You can still read the post here though replies are closed..unfortunately, would have been cool to see this thread with 100000 pages of people saying "EPIC!". I wonder what this guy is up to now.

Ultimately, the question for me is if this HODL is actually that healthy. But the answer is that maybe it depends on how you look at it. In terms of "expected value" it could be very good. If you can't trade, if you have weak hands, if you believe in this but not in yourself. HODL!
For others, there are maybe more +EV options than doing this. Maybe!
Listen, the most important thing about crypto is that it has very steep asymmetric expectation. YUou can lose what you've put in but you can win much much much. No one know how much more. You got in at 10, 1000 or 10000$ will it really matter when a btc will be 1mil$?! That's the way to think about it. In an asymmetric environment, maybe HODLING is simply the smart thing to do because there are no such things as "perfect trades" but HODLING is always perfect.
Sure, is not fun sometimes but the payout our there...And if you can embrace the passion, learn and read and connect with people who share your passion and don't mind the price ( why would you anyway?) then you can have a very good time in crypto.

I can totally relate to this, right now. I must admit I always wondered how that word came to be..Thank you for DE-mystifyng that.
What's weird is that hodling seems so easy, from the outside...You just wait and do nothing, what's the big deal? But it is, you itch to act and yell and rage at the damn markets. But the force of HODL is strong. Cheers.
