Yes, but it worth it. It would mean not just being eternal. If we are able to upload our consciousness into a computer it would mean the definitive fusion of humans and machines, a new age of human race.

But to reach that amazing achievement we have to first solve two big challenges:

1. Understand our consciousness: Find where resides our consciousness, how it works and how we can we "pass" that conscience and all the related cognitive process into a computer.

2. Create a supercomputer with the same computing power than a human brain

It's something not likely to happen in a few decades, but every big step in the human history begun like a dream.
