What is a MasterNode?

Masternode is simply a cryptocurrency full node or Computer Wallet that keeps the full copy of the Blockchain in real-time, just like Bitcoin Full nodes and is always up and running. Although there is a difference in Functionality of Nodes from Masternodes. Normal Nodes just keeps the Full Blockchain and relays Blocks while MasterNodes have several other Functions added to it.

Special Functions of MasterNode

1. Instant Transactions

2. Participation in Voting of various Projects.

3. Increased Privacy for Transactions.

Now there is another added benefit in holding a MasterNode which is that you get Paid for Securing the Blockchain in their NAtive Currency. One of the most Popular MasterNodes which is DASH earns you around 50 USD per Day for maintaining a MasterNode. Although it will cost you a lot of Money to hold a MasterNode.
