Is .io The Best Address Investment?

in cryptocurrency •  6 years ago

A recent blog post at forkthecrypto.com titled "Will .io Become the New .com?" brought up an interesting question about the future of .io in connection with blockchain technology. Currently, it has been the culture of blockchain projects and ICOs to jump on .io address, but .io is really just a country code domain for the British Indian Ocean Territory. If its a country code then why is it being used so heavily with cryptotech?Oddly, it has rapidly become popular in the crypto-realm to take .io domain name extensions for blockchain projects and other tech oriented projects. Even odder though, is the apparent reason. Although .io is really for "Indian Ocean" at some point the joke spread that .io could represent input/output, a concept that readily appealed to the techies of the world and before long .io began taking the domain name world by storm. Is it a good investment? Let's open this question up to more discussion among our Steemian community. On one hand, blockchain, as a tech-oriented industry, has fully embraced .io as its branded extension, but on the other hand, this also means that many of those .io address will be held by shady characters pushing empty ICOs that hinder the rest of us.I welcome you to leave a comment with your view. Also, if you wish to read more about this topic, check out the forkthecrypto blog post Will .io Become the New .com?
