Thousands of websites (4200+ according to sources), many of which included U.S. and U.K. government agencies were infected with mining malware for several hours on Sunday. The code allowed web browsers on these computers to mine crypto-currencies, specifically the digital currency Monero. Texthelp and law enforcement agencies shut down the tainted version of Browsealoud but could not be reached for comment.

These kind of attacks will only grow bigger and bigger in the future unfortunately. People want to mine them cryptos.
