VOXELX IS REVOLUTIONALIZING MULTIDISCIPLINARY LEARNING IN MEDICAL EDUCATION
Voxelx is created to use the blockchain technology to revolutionize the multidisciplinary learning in medical education in both graduate and postgraduate level through an online DICOM-platform to simulate medical learning. Multidisciplinary learning in medical education is the most difficult tasks in both graduate and post graduate level. As the size of information increased in the medical science speedily, the demand for this type of learning gets bigger.
The team of Voxelx has been working to implement DICOM-images in medical-learning especially in radiology field about 5 years ago. The beta version of DICOM-platform has been built and published online in their website since December 2016 at the RSNA (Radiological society of North America) annual meeting in Chicago, USA. The beta creation is to easy medical learning in all level of education. The contents of this platform are the base of the community so that each registered member will be able to share their pre-validated knowledge in the case of either public or private. In other to monetize the online contents platform, blockchain technology is used so as so create incentives to encourage radiologists as publishers and validators in building and expanding the community of the platform. In the situation where nothing is attached to their work, the community will have a stunted growth. With help of Ethereum’s ERC-20 tokens, They were able to build a reward algorithm that will pay the radiologists for every content they create and published in the community. Voxelx has launched a token called GRAY and it is used majorly to finance building the content of the DICOM-Platform.
THE DICOM;
DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) is standard for storing and transmitting medical images to enable the bringing together of medical imaging devices such as scanners, servers, workstations, printers, network hardware, and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS)from multiple manufacturers. This has been widely accepted by hospitals, and this has been making ways into smaller applications like dentists’ and doctors’ offices.
WHY MAKING DICOM INTO ONLINE PLATFORM?
The DICOM platform is built to simulate radiology learning. It is very interactive, educative, easy to use and enhance fast learning. One of the major features is the capability to annotate and connect the structures and pathologies in the DICOM-images directly with all possible knowledge resources on the web. Implementing Blockchain in the platform will help to teach the user and allowed them to build his or her own files for others uses or lecturing, the auto recognition features aides the like recognition of same anatomical structure in all the series and connect it with the appropriate knowledge resource.
There are other features like social networking between the users in the platform, lecture presentation mode, tablet and mobile device mode, multi-touch capability, online case discussion, quick note system, have been implemented in the Tool.
