Namecoin (NMC) is an experimental open source technology that provides functions similar to traditional DNS (Domain Name Management System) service providers, with features of security, censorship resistance, privacy and speed. NMC was the first fork of Bitcoin and was first to implement merged mining and a decentralized DNS.
