Good point about the bitcoin split and the psychology around it. I believe that the people drawing comparisons between the ETH/ETC split, and a potential split in Bitcoin, are mistaken.
When Ethereum split, ETH was an altcoin, and not the bedrock of the entire cryptocurrency economy. Big, big difference right there.
Secondly, the reason bitcoin has gathered so much steam over the last few years is because many investors perceive it as an alternative to gold - a safe store of value outside the legacy financial system.
And also because of scarcity (21 million limit).
In the case of a permanent split, where you have two competing chains, the store of value and scarcity value propositions go flying out the window! In fact, the entire idea of a decentralized, immutable digital currency is put into question.
Are we going to have 5 different Bitcoins a few years from now every time there is some kind of disagreement about the blocksize, or any other parameter of the network?

@crypto-p upvoted and followed. Thanks for the short but informative video. Like I say, owning crypto is not for the faint of heart. Don't you think having a big macro picture helps maintain perspective with the ups and downs??? Take care!
