Monday and Tuesday (Jan 29th and 30th) I will attend the DagVanDeCrypto event at RAI Amsterdam (tickets are still available). Basically two days full of crypto stuff. I am excited!
I am curious if any fellow Steemians are also going. So, definitely let me know in the comments! Maybe we can meet up for a cup of coffee and talk about Steemit and crypto.
During or after the event I will post some updates of what new insights I got and share interesting information. With 70+ speakers and a lot of blockchain startups (30+) being present, getting some new inspiration is probably not too difficult.
The program ranges from introductions to blockchain and cryptocurrencies to talks about how blockchain will affect the world as we know it and adoption by traditional companies.
Some of the speakers:
- Jan Kees de Jager (former Minister of Finance)
- Dominik Zynis (co-founder of Wings)
- Greg Shapiro (fake Donald Trump)
- Martijn Hoogeveen (CEO Icecat)
- Bas Wisselink (founder of Blockchain Workspace)
- Mirèl ter Braak (Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets)
- Marc van der Chijs (Crypto investor)
- Jedidiah Taylor (founder of Decent.bet)
- Petra Hielkema (Dutch National Bank)
- Michael Eerhart (investor and co-founder of GoBlock)
- ...and 60 more
The ICOs:
I’ll keep you updated!
Cheers

I'm probably not going to be there, but I would love to go to such an event in the future. Are you from the Netherlands? I'm from Belgium, I would love to support you in the future.
I wish you all the best.
Feel free to check out my blog @maxdigi, this way we can support each other! "Zou ik helemaal super vinden!"

Ohh India, much warmer than here, nice! Any idea when you will be here in the summer? A meetup is definitely a good idea.

Wow, super fast reaction, you have good tools :-)
We can do it in Belgium or South Holland, not an issue and sure we can find 1 day in 2 months that suits us all. Question is: Do you like the idea? Would you be up for it?

Nope!
My mother mentioned this to me the other day... I looked it up. Turns out it's super expensive (like €120 or so??) and only some Dutch business people are basically going to explain to n00bs what blockchain and crypto is. Then day two seems to be entirely focused on ICO's and how to run and ICO.
I feel this event is more to make money off of n00bs who work in business. I expect to see managers who work at banks, and 'entrepreneurs' with the next hot idea (that sucks) which they now want to do in an ICO because of mad moneyz. Blegh.
I kind of wanted to go to the NEO conference, but this Dag van de Crypto sounds very lame to me!
I wish I could go to an event where I could meet the important people in crypto... like Vitalik, Charlie Lee, etc. I guess it's too late for that now though.. perhaps last year, but these events are sold out to the max now.

Definitely some thoughts I had as well. Still think it can be interesting to go. And yes, it is not cheap.
Personally I want to know where those business people stand and how they think about blockchain in the business. I don't expect to learn much about crypto and blockchain, more about the current level of knowledge of these people.
Next to that, I hope some of these ICO trigger me and are interesting.
Never bad to be around some people with similar interests. You never know what comes out of it :-)

I guess.. but I feel this is more goign to be along the lines of:
Seminar 1: What is Blockchain
Seminar 2: Bitcoin explained
Seminar 3: ICO as a crowdfunding option
Seminar 4: Here, listen to these people you can pay to set up your own ICO
Seminar 5: Meet person X from ING who wants to be important
All possibly in terrible Dutch-English accents.
I feel like I'm better off spending $120 into ETH instead.
Or perhaps stand outside of RAI giving out flyers that say: "If you REALLY want practical help and advice instead of this n00b stuff: call this number" and start my own consulting business.. (I've considered hanging up flyers in the local Albert Heijn for this actually!)

:-) I did an experiment spreading some flyers for a crypto workshop, you can't imagine how much interest i got, i literally had to refuse people as i could handle only a certain amount. The crypto knowledge level of the average person is close to zero, there is a huge opportunity for what you are saying here and don't forget to mention 'with proper Dutch accent' :-)

You might be right, I'll see :-)
That crypto flyer idea is an interesting one. I have been thinking about it as well for a while and for instance also put up a Martkplaats ad. So far I haven't done that though. There is definitely money in that, but I for now I leave it to other people to pick that up :-P
About the tags, there was one for Dutch content, just 'nl' or 'nederlands' I believe. I never looked at it though. A tag for serious crypto bloggers would indeed be interesting. Not sure whether it works, since it will get polluted the minute it becomes 'a thing'. I guess we just are left with building our own personal feeds by following interesting people :-)
Still, I think an Amsterdam Steemit meetup would still be interesting!
