It won't be worth much when you allow me to access MY OWN MONEY!
The saga continues, and my patience is running out! I decided to try an experiment over a month ago to see if I could get some cash from my STEEM. I wrote about it here, so I won't repeat myself!

After sending Kraken my documentation by email because I can't upload it to their page, I got an email response today saying that they can't read the print on my driver's license in the image with me holding it, because it is too blurry when blown up! The image I sent them was taken with the iPhone 8 Plus and I sent them the full size image! I can read everything in Photoshop CC 2018 at 100%, so this is beyond a joke! They have a detailed copy of my driver's license, so any fool could match up what I'm holding to the full size image anyway!
What do I do next? Shoot it at f32 with my full frame DSLR and send them the fullsize 120MB TIFF file? Has anyone else run into this nonsense, or am I alone? I feel like I am on a treadmill going nowhere!

Just wondering as a US person, why did you choose Kraken. steem trades in Bittrex and Binance, much better for US?

I didn't so much chose it. It was all there was left after trying to get on board with Bittrex and Coinbase! If you already have an exchange, you are OK, but it's not easy to be accepted now! :-( I didn't try Binance, but at this point, it all seems futile anyway1 I'll just play with my Monopoly money on Steemit!

The frustrating part is that there is no telephone support, and each piece of correspondence takes about 2 weeks for an answer! My guess is that either my email server or theirs resized the image. It's the only logical answer, unless they are expecting a 100% tack sharp blow-up of the driver's license at full screen size when it is such a tiny portion of the full image! I'm tempted to send a huge file from the DSLR next time - shot at f32!

It may be working out! Coinbase is no longer in a loop asking for my phone number. I'm just waiting till my bank refreshes transactions on Monday so that I can get the info on the 2 small deposits they made in order to get my bank verified! Fingers crossed!

I don't know if there is going to be a next try! It almost seems like there is nothing I can do! Common sense tells anyone that you can't zoom into a tiny driver's license held next to a head shot and a piece of paper without getting fuzziness if you are trying to blow it up to page size, which must be what they are trying to do!

Idea #1. Why not have your son help you. I read in some earlier comment that he knows crypto, so the ETH to him.
Idea #2. Start over with Coinbase. Sign up on PC not phone. May have to use a different phone number?

My son is in Moscow. I would do that, but it’s not a huge deal. If all else fails, I will transfer the ETH to him. I just want to have my own exchange, though. I was not tying to sign up with Coinbase on my phone. I was using my computer. The phone number was for ID purposes, I assume. Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate your taking the time. :-) tip!

Well thanks much for the tip. I just feel your frustration and I like to fix things :). I just never had a problem with Coinbase.
So if you send ETH to him, he could send it via Paypal.
Can you put in a ticket at Coinbase support? Or, can you try over if it never created the account?

I put in a ticket to support. Nothing! I will likely try again somewhere in a few weeks or so. I just need time away from it. I think anyone who is trying to sign up for an exchange now is having the same problems. Good news! (I think!) Whatever the loop I was in with Coinbase, it has now cleared, and they are no longer asking for my phone number! Today I had to enter my bank info and they sent two small deposits so that I can verify it. I won't see those at my bank till Monday though, so I am keeping my fingers crossed! In the meantime, my son also suggested that i could send the ETH to his wallet. Let's see what happens on Monday! Thanks for the encouragement!

It's Tuesday, and still no sign of the verification deposits in my bank from Coinbase!!!
Meanwhile, I got an apology from Kraken saying that my very first documents were perfectly readable and I should not have had all that trouble, so they approved me to Tier 3! Great! All I have to do now is get some USD for the ETH I deposited there, right? Simple enough. There is a button which says "Activate" so that you can enter your banking information. And what do I get? "Service is currently disabled. Please try again later." !!!!!!!

I used to want to sign up to Kraken but then I heard like they closed or something so I wasn't able to sign up. How abt Binance? You can try using it instead of Kraken. Oh wait I think they closed new account application already.

Kraken is just very very slow, and very very picky with the details if you live in the USA. If not, it should be very quick, as you won't need Tier 3 unless trading in a high dollar amount of crypto! I'm verified at the first 2 levels, and that was pretty quick!

You are in the UK, right? You will only need to be verified at Tier 1 and Tier 2. I got those in a couple of days, no problem. It's because I live in the US, that they are demanding Tier 3 which is where I am running into problems because they are demanding the impossible! I think I'm finally getting somewhere with Coinbase. They sent a few cents to my bank account for verification, but I won't see that till tomorrow, as the bank doesn't show withdrawals and deposits over the weekend.
