Why you shouldn't store your cryptocurrencies at hosted website wallets and exchanges

As one of the pioneering investor at cryptocurrencies, I know that safety of our digital assets or coins is very important. That's why when it comes to storage of our coins for the long term, here are my tips to make your cryptocoins safe:

  1. Backup your wallet- Always have a folder at your desktop that stores all the needed private keys or passwords in the blockchain/coin of your choice for easy picking up.

  2. Go to developer tools- There are wallets such as electrum and Qt or other crypto wallets that can export the private keys of the coins you are holding to. Either export it as a csv file or json file.

  3. Keep private keys safe- Whoever has the private keys has the wallet file and access to the funds. So you should better make the private keys safe and always have written backups.

  4. Never store your cryptocurrencies to the btc exchanges and hosted website wallets. Because it is still a centralized one, we should know that it can be hacked and your coins can be compromised.
