Proof of stake is superior to mining, so Etherium takes that one. Cryptocurrency has not been adopted yet as a payment method thus it acts as an investment vehicle. Litecoin's soul purpose it to be a currency but it is not enough any more. Superior currencies have hit the market designed for mass adoption and provide functionality on top of the blockchain. I'd say etherium takes that as well. Is etherium gonna last? is Litecoin? Who knows...think about the market cap. Litecoin is a short term investment, Etherium is a long term investment.
PS. not FUD intended about Litecoin, I'm a hodler myself.
