Bill Clinton will be the keynote at Swell, a conference hosted by Ripple. The former U.S. president was selected due to his role in the expansion and adoption of Internet-based technologies in the 90s. The event will be held in San Francisco at the beginning of October 2018.

Ripple will be teaming up with Raising Malawi, an African non-profit, to raise money for “orphans and vulnerable children” in the nation. For a one-month period beginning yesterday, July 20th, Ripple will match any public donations received through Facebook (yes, it’s apparently supposed to redirect to Madonna’s page - scroll to her “pinned posts” for details).

Cardano Testnet Updates

Source: Cardano

Cardano has added smart contract support to its testnet. They now support contracts written in Solidity, making a transfer from the Ethereum network easy. They have also implemented a feature called “correct by construction” which aims to catch exploitable errors when compiling. Cardano will look to add support for other languages such as JavaScript in the future.

EOS: Fixing Bugs with Bugs

Source: Twitter

EOS’s RAM limit increase, which was supposed to be at a rate of 1kb per block, skyrocketed to 1.5GB due to a date error in the code. Luckily (?), the error also caused a buffer overflow, without which EOS would have had to vote to roll back a massive change.

EOS #1! (Sort of!)

Source: Blocktivity | EOS Block Explorer

The EOS blockchain has the highest value, according to Blocktivity, which looks at block activity rather than market cap as an indicator. Just one problem - the activity feeding the current measurement of value is the same ‘blocktwitter’ spam we reported on a few weeks ago.

Source: CoinDesk

Martti 'Sirius' Malmi, Bitcoin’s second developer, is creating a new cryptocurrency called AXE. AXE will integrate Malmi’s reputation-based Identifi protocol with GUN, a decentralized database system. A decentralized social media platform was cited as a possible use case, but there are as yet no specific plans.
