Need Advice on Credible and Good Cryptocurrency Resources to Read or Follow

Now that I'm closing in on finishing my four month world travels, I'm looking forward to being back home on Big Island, Hawaii and getting hunkered down with expanding my cryptocurrency knowledge.

Although I could simply use Google and do much of the research on cryptocurrency resources ... the problem is, there's just SO MUCH information on cryptocurrency that I'm not sure which kind of resources are actually quality and credible.

That's where I'm asking help from the SteemIt community to get some advice from you guys ...

... experts to the beginners on any resources that you've come across that you can suggest to me.

I'd rather check out the resources from people's suggestions rather than aimlessly searching for resources on Google, that most likely will be disappointing.

The resources can be suggested and come from buying a book/Kindle on Amazon, to a cryptocurrency course, all the way to perhaps one-and-one cryptocurrency training that I'd gladly pay for sessions and get personalized help ... but need recommendations from you guys.

A little background on my cryptocurrency skills

I'd say I'm still more in the beginner realm, although on the higher end of the beginner spectrum. I'm mostly invested in ETH as well as STEEM (with this lovely community), and some BTC and BCH here and there.

I've played around with some alt coins via Poloniex and Bittrex, but with extensive European travels in the last four months, I haven't really had the time to sit and analyze alt coins and charts, so for now, my cryptocurrency involvement has been mostly with putting money to get ETH and/or writing and curating posts with SteemIt.

I like to give a BIG thanks to @cryptoctopus who first exposed me to SteemIt back in October 2016, however even though I joined in that month, I actually didn't get fully involved with SteemIt until May 2017, where I started my SteemIt journey. Yes, I procrastinated for around 7 months before I actually got started with SteemIt. Don't be like me and procrastinate. Just do.

And again, that's all the more reason why I don't want to be left behind with the happenings of the cryptocurrency world.

Being back home in Big Island means I can soak up as much information and take action on what I learn.

What are some cryptocurrency topics that I've been wondering about?

A. I've been wondering about some passive stream crypto sites including Bitconnect and/or Genesis Mining and wanted to hear opinions on the validity of these kinds of cryptocurrency income streams.

B. Right now, I've only kept most of my cryptocurrencies on private exchanges via Bittrex or Poloniex. I know that presents risk of getting hacked. What are people's suggestions on protecting your cryptos via personalized Trezor or Ledger Nano devices?

C. How do people go about deciding which alt coin to trade? There's always so many of them out there and there is always new ICOs coming out every month. How to deal with information overload with alt coins?

D. With Bitcoin at 4,000 USD and ever so going up, do people continue to put in local currency money to invest in Bitcoin, or do people now invest in other coins such as ETH or LTC due to easier entry?

Please feel free to comment below ...

... on any resources, people to follow, and/or anything that would help me and others with cryptocurrency learning ... that includes links to perhaps past SteemIt post compilations that cover cryptocurrency 101 lessons.

Cheers and thanks!

I'm still at the beginning of learning. But I'm sure the future will not be the traditional ills.

We have to exploit this. Because learning today will give you a lot of power tomorrow.

I've only been in this sphere since June and i'm a dummy. What i do know how to do is grind! I'm about $15,000 above initial investment already! If i can do it, w/no ones help, than anyone can bro. Don't forget to grind!!!

Yes, there is a lot of well frankly bad info out there, but also debate on the value of good education... Let me put it this way would you UPVOTE a blog that was answering your questions? I ask because every so often I get this crazy idea that I should give back to crypto and do some classes blogs and what ever... But I remember the last time I tired to give it away and asked for $5 donations so we could rent a library room... NO ONE WOULD SHOW UP. A lot of people have the GET RICH QUICK mindset when it comes to Cryptocurrency, I have been doing this since 2010, and while I make an ok living at it. The real long term thinkers have more biz and grind mentality. if that makes sense. Hope to here back from you and we can go from there.

U ever think that this thing still isn't mainstream? I talked to 4 of the biggest nerds @ my workplace today only 2 of them have even heard of crypto. I'm not a tech savvy person at all. The difference between me and them is education. Education in what? Education in the dysfunction of the financial system and handling money as a whole. I've never put a dime into this i couldn't afford to lose. Sorry truth is that most people live paycheck to paycheck. Guess what that means? They have NO MONEY TO LOSE. It's not that they want to get rich quick, it's that they need to make quick money cuz the money they invest isn't funds they can afford to lose or wait to mature. These mindsets are continents apart. If i had met u and you said "grind" i would have been on-board. don't give up on people ever tho!! They are the only thing you got....

Well, that is another thing I see a lot of. The claim that "dysfunction of the financial system" is some how why "most people live paycheck to paycheck". But the fact is the real problem is "most people live paycheck to paycheck". If you come into Crypto with the idea that bad money management works you won't do well in Crypto, you just won't. At the end of the day, it is a choice. Most who live "paycheck to paycheck" actually do have "MONEY TO LOSE". But they come to Crypto because they hear some are getting rich, well those of us who are doing so, are grinding away earning a steady return while paying the bills. Investing in doing that instead of eating out or cable TV. As you said these "mindsets are continents apart". I started with like $5 and over the course of years eventually got to a point that I could make this my living. But yes things are not yet mainstream: I think the estimate is about 6% to 10% are involved in any meaningful way at this time. Less for thier living.

Good point about the dysfunction of the financial system. I'm quick to throw that in the mix cuz of my substantial self-education of our fiat "money" system. Your'e right to question that facts relevance during this discussion. Most folks choose not to learn about money and how to handle it. That's about all you need to know to see who is gonna make it or not.

Ya, I never tend to be for "the system" as the source to blame, because I consider it the same thing as claiming in US Football "if only it was soccer/football, then the ball going under the post would have counted". At the end of the day, you are in the game/system you are in, and need to make the moves that count for the game/system you are playing with. There are PRO and CON to FIAT, but most gov currencies are a fractional reserve system. While academically we can debate about if that is ideal Vs good Vs bad; at the end of the day, it is more an IT IS.

No real way to get around that. Understanding the pro and con of those systems is one of the key points to understanding what moves make sense in Crypto Vs Gov curancy. Far to many, treat that as a zero sum winner take all, when in reality it is not that.

No debate necessary. We seem to quite agree!

Seems to be more or less true, but the real trillion unit of currency of your choice question is how do we get most people to look at these things more with common sense than hype and what not? Understanding the cycles is one thing, stopping them or helping people escape them is quite another...

I'm not sure you can. Some people just don't have a mind to manage money. Specially w/money become just a specter, that comes in plastic and paper. It is hard for most to understand what money really is and comes from unfortunately. Some you can save, but you cannot save most. We all can't be winners i guess.
