Yeah the term Crypto currencies are full of Crypto asset. As of April 2018 there are 1591 crypto-assets. There are four types:

Like Crypto Currencies , Platform tokens / Crypto commodities , Utility tokens, Tansactional tokens. Bitcoin, lite-coin, dash coin all are Crypto asset and most important thing is their value fluctuated based on the fore of demand and supply.

Platform tokens were created to act as a platform of the developments of others decentralized projects. But the largest platform token is Ethereum.
