There's been a lot of speculation lately regarding the possibility of Coinbase adding Ripple to its trading platform. And why not? With Coinbase being one of the most popular currency exchanges, while only providing four hand-selected coins to trade (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash), it would seem natural to add the third largest cryptocurrency, Ripple.
The stage seemed to be set. CEO of Ripple appeared on TV right next to Coinbase COO, and crypto enthusiasts were hoping for a big partnership announcement, which drove the price of Ripple higher. However, no such announcement was made. It appears that a partnership was not even in the works. Coinbase caught on to the circulating rumor, and tweeted out a brief reminder regarding their process and policy for adding new assets-
Basically, Coinbase denies that it has decided to add any new cryptocurrencies to its small catalog of choices.
Ripple has fallen back down to its original price levels.
