Miners versus Developers

It looks as if the internal struggle within bitcoin may eventually result in the crypto-currency being split in half as stated in recent news headlines today. All eyes are on bitcoin. From what I understand the miners and developers are at odds over bitcoins transaction fees. The miners are being compensated quite well as a result of bit coins high fees and increased transactions while developers say the crypto-currency transaction fees are too costly and need to be reduced so that most people and/or companies can use the coins payment platform at a more reasonable cost. What is your opinion on the matter? Please feel free to jump into the discussion.

The longer this war continues, the greater the chances of another 'alt coin' surpassing BTC.
