The provider of services for telecommunications and smartphones, Huawei, announced the launch of a BaaS platform (Blockchain-as-a-service).

During a conference of analysts of Huawei held this week in Shenzhen, it was announced that the new platform of the company known as "Blockchain Service", will allow companies to develop smart contracts on a network of blocks designed for several use cases.

Huawei, a company that has operated as a member and collaborator of the Blockchain Hyperledger consortium since October 2016, has based its new BaaS platform on the Hyperledger Fabric 1.0 protocol, according to Hu Ruifeng, the company's engineer who is also co-author of the founding document of the project (White Paper).

According to information published by the CoinDesk news portal, Hyperledger Fabric 1.0 was launched for the first time in July of last year and marked a key milestone for open source software, since as it progressed its development was proven its usefulness and effectiveness in the development of business applications.

According to the founding document, the BaaS platform will now allow customers to build applications for intelligent contracts focused on supply chain areas, tokenized securities assets, as well as public services for the financial audit and data verification sectors. of identification.

This launch is Huawei's technological development more oriented towards the use of Blockchain technology, followed by another initiative known as Project Caliper, a software designed to test the performance of the main networks of operating blocks in the market. A month ago Huawei filed a Blockchain patent application for the protection of digital property rights.

This Huawei effort is part of the movement led by companies in the communications technology sector in China, having as main exponents to Baidu and Tencent, which have already launched their own Blockchain service platforms recently.

It is expected that the next company to take the step is JD.com, which also announced the development of a similar plan last month.
