What's the deal with Bitcoin Faucets?

Hello All. I am new to blockchain technology & cryptocurrency. I am very enthusiastic to get my feet wet and learn more. I don't have funds to invest so I'm looking for a good way for someone like me to get started, just kind of to get a feel.. I am wondering if Bitcoin Faucets are Legit and would be a worthwhile experiment to run during spare time?

If so, can you please help point me to a reputable one?

    I used to use them quite a lot when i first got into bitcoin, they were used as a way for newcomers to test out bitcoin and raise peoples interest in the coin. but with the price of bitcoin so high in comparison to when I first started using them the payouts are very small and it can be very time consuming.
