Since I'm new to Steemit and lead digital marketing by day, I found this article very interesting. It's "Why Facebook Inc (FB) Should Fear This Social Media Kingslayer" written by By Josh Enomoto, InvestorPlace Contributor (June 14, 2017) and found on the InvestorPlace website.
As someone who has enjoyed Facebook over the years, I can appreciate what he's saying. I mean, you can get rewarded (with cryptocurrency) using Steemit for the same things you do on Facebook - and get nothing.
In addition, people like me have been less active on Facebook lately because it has been overrun with political posts and just general craziness.
If you know anything about blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, you likely have heard of and/or using Steemit - and see its value...its real value.
I'm all good with Steemit making it big, but I really don't want it to "kill" Facebook because I don't want Steemit to become Facebook. Let's make Steemit something better, a safe place, a place you enjoy visiting -- and it doesn't hurt if you earn some cryptocurrency (money) in the process.

It could be the facebook killer but only if people start understanding the cryptocurrency aspect of it. That seems like a mayor hurdle we have yet to take. And also brand recognition obviously. Have fun out there and good luck with future posts!

@kwisness - I had a chuckle at your profile statement - "Mother of a teenage daughter - enough said!" - LOL Sing this song to her a couple of times - that'll make her happy. https://steemit.com/followme/@chuckypita/do-as-i-m-doing-follow-follow-me-do-as-i-m-doing-follow-follow-me

I don't think it will "kill" Facebook as they cater to very different markets & have different formats (blogging) - I'd say its more likely to take market share from other blogging outlets or perhaps it might take some of the traffic from Reddit as the upvote system is similar?
Now all they need is a stable app! :)

It will be interesting - but Facebook has pretty dominant grip on the market. I think the cryptocurrency part of things will complicate it, since many older people don't even understand what the are.

Yes, it does, but the world of social media is quite fickle. We'll see what happens!
