However i do not agree about Monero, privacy is just an small part of success and we already have allot of innovative privacy focused projects with more features.
Monero focusing only on privacy and it's not enough for consumers, i it think that Monero will come back to couple dollars, because giants like Bitcoin & Dash giving enough privacy.
I would argue that privacy is a huge factor for people living in countries with strong government surveillance. If said authorities decide to heavily tax Bitcoin or restrict its use, then Monero becomes the new gold standard. Many countries have restricted the purchase of U.S. dollars. If people could circumvent these laws and invest in a coin that guarantees their privacy, then this makes a strong coin.
