Bitcoin is actually, ultimately, a deflationary currency; because, people lose their keys. I lost 0.005 BTC back in 2016 when I was pretty new to how cryptocurrencies work by encrypting a wallet that I didn't backup or write down the private key. That 0.005 BTC is gone, forever. :(
