South Korea's S-Coin

in cryptocurrency •  7 years ago

South Korea is following Japan to go full throttle on cryptocurrency. The initiative is the brainchild of the Mayor of the country's capital. A very unexpected move since many of the legislators are heavily opposed to the proliferation of cryptocurrencies. Could be a very risky political decision by the Mayor as well. Who knows, the risk could be worth it, enough to catapult him into the presidency.

It's well known that most if not all baby boomers dislike the concept of digital currency. Unfortunately for the blockchain technology, many of the government posts are held by baby boomers. It would take a few more years till we see millennials and generations who are strong supporters of cryptos in public offices.

We need more of these types of initiatives. We need more these kinds of politicians who are willing to take the risks to bring a new technology into mainstream adoption.

Kudos to South Korea. How I wish my country would not only follow the lead but get in the game and take the bull by the horns!
