Getting Involved with a Cryptocurreny Community.

I’ve been excited about cryptocurrency for many years now, but it got pretty depressing just staring at CoinMarketCap all day waiting for something to happen. I’ve always wanted to get involved in the space, but I don’t code. I wasn’t sure how I fit in. But, I do have a talent… Art & Marketing. And it just so happens that my favorite crypto project has an open community that welcomes and encourages individuals to “get involved”. So, after some Fear & Doubt started to spread about this favorite crypto project, I got motivated. I decided to get involved.

SmartCash is That Project
Since I first heard about the SmartCash project, back in October 2017, I was in. Smart Rewards monthly, Mining with my GPU, even set up a SmartNode. Done. Done. And Done. I’ve been part of the network contributing time, effort and computing power to the decentralized blockchain for a while, but I hadn’t been a part of the community, also known as the SmartHive. And, really, that was one of the big differences that stood out to me when first researching SmartCash. Anybody can join the community online. Anybody can create and submit a proposal to help promote the use of SmartCash. Anyone in the SmartHive can vote on whether to fund the proposal or not. The more SMART you own, the more weight your vote has. 1 SMART = 1 Vote

All of this is what set the project apart to me. And, to see it constantly improving even during this bear market has been inspiring. It turns out, there are a lot of talented people working on SmartCash. And more than talented, they remain focused on the core values that brought about this crypto revolution. Removing the need for a centralized money system, and giving the power of money back to the individual. The teams have been hard at work bringing ease-of-use innovations, and real-world solutions to cryptocurrency.

All of these innovations are points-of-difference in marketing. And not just compared to the traditional markets, SmartCash is setting itself apart from other cryptos. With so many benefits, the only hard part is boiling it down to a single main message. “The Business Focused & Community Driven Cryptocurrency” is their current line. This sums it up well. An engaged community that is incentivized to help the project grow, and development focused on the everyday use of SmartCash as a means of exchange. But, this is juts the tip of the iceberg. I needed to learn more.

I Get Involved
I join the SmartCash Forum and Discord group, and start getting involved in the conversations. I start to see plenty of opportunity to create marketing. There are so many awesome features to this project that even someone like me, who thought they understood how it worked, still had a few misconceptions about SmartCash. So I start redesigning the website in my spare time (which is after 10pm when the kids finally pass out from exhaustion) making the site more user-friendly, more focused on business while having more information about the SmartHive Community and how it works. But, that might have been too ambitious. I could have submitted a proposal and let the community vote on it, but I decided to take a more strategic approach—create materials for the community to use. Welcome Kit materials for businesses and Marketing materials for the community. I didn’t need funding. I had everything I needed to get started.

SmartCash Marketing Materials

I started with a simple trifold brochure that would try to summarize everything. This would help me wrap my head around the details of all the features SmartCash offers. This brochure could be downloaded & printed out by anyone in the community who wants to promote SmartCash to their local businesses, friends, family and community. One brochure focuses on the Business aspect; SmartPay, 0% fees, Instant Transaction, and No Fraud. The other brochure focuses on the Community aspect; the SmartHive, Proposals & Voting, and Getting Involved.

From there I created Seed Cards that can also be printed out by anyone in the community. They can add their contact info to the them, and drop them off at local business to "plant the seed".

And, anything a Merchant who starts accepting SmartCash might need to promote it to their customers.

From there, I went digital with the ideas. I created some Online Banner ads that were attempting to capture emails, and get newbies into crypto via SmartCash. I was then made aware it's currently illegal in most countries to advertise cryptocurrencies online, so I had to take a different approach.

GIFs could be fun, I thought. They can be animated, so they start playing in your social media feeds as you scroll past. These are perfect for standing out and spreading awareness online through social media. They need to be informative, but also need to be fun and entertaining. So I sketched out a few ideas and started with “The Evolution of Money”. An idea showing the generalized progression of money throughout human history. The fiat paper money gets inflated and burned to ash, and it ends with the next global currency… SmartCash;)

This experience has been amazing. The SmartHive community has been very welcoming and open to ideas. It shows just how this experiment can work. Anyone with ideas or a talent can share them with the community. The good ideas rise to the top, and get implemented.

The way I see it, SmartCash is a game-changer. No other project in this space comes close to providing what SmartCash does. While most have been sitting around just whining about the market, others have been hard at work creating real world solutions that remove the "middle-man" from the payment processing industry. That has been the promise of cryptocurrency that SmartCash is delivering on—constantly innovating and improving the ease-of-use, security and speed of SmartCash.
