Communication has been one of the key aspects that separate humans from other living beings on the planet. Living creatures do communicate in their own way, but humans have come a long way since the times of cave paintings. We have evolved by sharing ideas and learning from each other’s knowledge as well as life experiences. The evolving technology & mass digitisation has only helped in improving the forms of sharing ideas. Before we dive into the benefits offered by Publish0x and the ways in which it will change the next-generation media/publishing companies, let us briefly look at the current scenario.

Smartphones and easy availability of the internet has impacted many industries, but none has undergone a change similar to the media & content industry. It is experiencing unprecedented changes due to the increasing number of delivery channels and content creators. To put it plainly, anyone with a smartphone and an internet connection can be a content creator. While that may sound like something beneficial, it has its fair share of downsides.

Quantity over Quality

The past few years have seen the arrival of new media companies as barriers to entry continue to decline. The online content production in the form of articles, blogs, videos, etc. has scaled due to easy distribution vehicles and diminishing technology cost. However, there is one key aspect that many seem to be ignoring — Quality. In the mad rush to get more views, clickbait titles have become new normal and giving a catchy YouTube title that is not related to the video is considered an art.

It would be certainly not right to blame the new media entrants without addressing the reason that leads to such a grim situation. Traditionally, media houses have considered themselves as someone who is above the readers. They believed that the “naïve readers” were not capable of deciding what was correct and thus, the responsibility fell upon them. In the process, the people have lost trust in the traditional media/publishing houses, and even the top media houses are viewed with cynicism. Publish0x puts the power back in the hands of readers, but more on that later.

Just Business & Arrival of Blockchain

For media houses views bring in money and it was hardly surprising that over time, views and not content become the primary focus. This reduced space to accomplished authors who wrote from the point of view of readers and not the search engines. While creating a personal blog and sharing content over it is always possible, the revenues are quite grim against the popular notion.

Well, this brings us to where we started. Technology which led to increased sharing of ideas is today hampering the very same thing. The arrival of blockchain was meant to change this, and to an extent, it has done that. There are self-publishing platforms like Steemit that allow you to publish your own content and earn their native currency from it, but it still leaves a huge flaw in the system. It essentially tames the platform in their own eco-system which hampers growth.

Publish0x Can Be The Future

Publish0x is a new upcoming platform that solves the problems faced with the traditional media model as well as the new-age blockchain-based models. The platform describes itself as, “a crypto agnostic publishing platform,” which is way better than being tied to a single cryptocurrency. Unlike other platforms that stick to their native currency, Publish0x will allow Ether and other ERC-20 tokens on the platform. So, you may earn a currency that you can hold or sell which is far better than earning a platform-specific currency that may lose its value if the said-platform was not able to run the business successfully.

The Publish0x platform is also set to focus on quality rather than quantity. It will achieve this by employing a two-step process. First, only a few contributors who can deliver top-notch content will be selected and allowed to publish on the platform. The second check would be the tip given by the readers. Imagine a scenario where a writer with a sub-standard quality of work publishes on the Publish0x platform, not many readers will tip him/her and eventually, the author will stop contributing for the lack of income. So, Publish0x will ensure that the community as a whole will keep the overall quality high and remove the bad actors.

The readers who will be the cornerstone of the platform will also earn from the Publish0x platform. There is a tipping mechanism that allows readers to tip the author in varying percentages. So, the reader may keep 80% of the tip and chose to give 20% to the writer. If you are wondering, from where does the currency (presently BNTY) comes from to provide a tip? You don’t have to spend from your own pocket, the tips will be allocated from the rewards pool. This ensures that readers earn cryptocurrency while maintaining the quality of the platform and the contributors get a fair share for their hard work. Readers can also receive a 5% commission from tips claimed by any audiences that they bring to the platform via referral link.

Finally, as I always say, “a project is only as good as its team.” Publish0x is backed by a team that is well-versed with the domain and have done a lot of work in the segment (given away over 1090 BTC worth over USD 3,500,000). So, I don’t think any of you need to worry about the authenticity of this project. Well, I am sure by now you are curious and eager to start earning from this platform. Our friends at Publish0x have written a simple and easy to understand mini guide on steps to get you started. You can check that from here! and there roadmap from here!. Good share. I like Publish0x, i think they can be a serious competitor to steemit.

Been using the platform myself for a month now. The way upvotes are financed makes it unique from steem. Time will tell if it's a better system or not.
