CFTC chairman and awesome uncle Chris Giancarlo, also known as the man who got "HODL" added to the congressional record, has tweeted the message below this morning thanking the crypto community for the warm response following his testimony during Feb 6 Senate hearing. In particular, his opening remarks embraced a "do no harm" approach, and respect for millennial and the next generation's innovators. Chris repetitively classified ICOs as securities during the testimony. Jay Clayton, the chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), on the other hand, hinted at the possibility of coming back to request additional regulation. Banning cryptocurrencies, however, was not one of the options proposed, and the overall tone was positive, and perceived as a bullish sign for crypto.
A task force was put together by U.S regulators to take a look at crypto in a coordinated effort to accompany this budding ecosystem. Until recommendations emerge, it's looking like the crypto community will continue its successful quest to win U.S regulators' hearts. <3
