I gave up on Changelly. They are hiding behind the transaction wall of Simplex, a garbage payment processor like Paypal. They don’t take responsibility for their ineptitude and blame failed transactions on the bank. Which I know is is not the case. They are a bar to entry that will eventually die.
After the continual bars to entry trying to use methods that would keep my identity anonymous, I finally submitted to the government controlled system of Coinbase. I had to prove my identity by submitting a picture of my driver’s license (front and back) and have a selfie taken via my laptop’s web cam. I scowled and flipped the camera off when I took it. It verified. I wonder if anyone will even actually look at them.
I find it surprising that Coinbase has been able to integrate text and facial recognition software into their site, but still have problems linking a bank account. I would select my bank when presented with the options, then enter my user name and password, Coinbase would then show me my current bank balance and then proceed to give me an error saying it couldn’t link it right now and that I needed to try back another time. This has been the case for weeks. Like any other payment processor that requires bank accounts to be added this way, there are continual problems. Just a bad way to interact with customers. Strike 2 Coinbase.
I was able to add a debit card. Hooray for a $300 purchase limit! So stupid. So the last option to attempt is a wire transfer, and based upon others that I know that are in the process of funding their account this way, it could take over a week. That is pretty typical. Wire transfers are antiquated banking controls forced on consumers. Its like forcing someone to use Morse Code to send a message. Banks are dying, why do you think cryptocurrency exists? But, not for the reasons you think. That is for another post.
I then went over to gdax.com and was required to verify my identity yet again. I entered the information the exact same way that I had for Coinbase because gdax automatically created an account for me when I went to their site after messing with Coinbase. Needless to say, it would not work. So I tried other addresses that I use. Nope. Now I have to wait 13 hours before I can try again. This gas lighting perpetrated by US based financial systems is rampant. It varies from system to system, but it is there and it is on purpose. Again, that is for another post.
Even after verifying my identity sufficiently to add a debit card to my Coinbase account, When I attempt to set up a wire transfer it asks for it all over again. But, Coinbase must be broken just like Gdax, because I can’t do anything here for another 13 hours either. Complete garbage.
I did use up my weekly Coinbase enforced debit card purchase limit of $300 buying Litecoin. So i have finally entered Crypto. God help me.
