Russian nationals identified in a Justice Department indictment released Friday used cryptocurrency exchanges as part of an alleged scheme to mislead U.S. citizens leading up to the 2016 presidential election.
The indictment, part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s on-going investigation into possible election interference by Russia, linked 13 Russian nationals and three Russian groups to alleged misinformation campaigns spread in the U.S. public through Facebook and Twitter
I just happen to find the article interesting, the fact they used cryptocurrency is amazing to me in 2016! Most likely they used a privacy coin so they wouldn't be able to track the transaction. I wonder what coin they bought and how they used the cryptocurrency since they didn't say how they used it sadly. I can see how the election interference happened, If you spread enough fud anything is possible. If I keep seeing a ad on the internet or tv enough telling me they have mind reading glassed eventually i will believe it and buy a pair.
The article goes on to talk about a old Russian based cryptocurrency exchange that used to be called BTC-e. The exchange got shut down for facilitating illegal activates. I don't think they were doing it on purpose what people do on your website i don't see how they would have control but if they got shut down i am guessing they knew those activates where going on but didn't do anything about it. Now they have re-opened the exchange under a different name WEX. I never expected for an exchange to be doing things like that but it goes to show that you shouldn't leave your money in an exchange and use trusted exchanges! Well thats what im taking from that!
