What is the point of cryptocurrencies if we don't have any real-world use cases. In this blog post, I will post one of the use cases of cryptocurrency and why I think this is very cool.
I live in the Netherlands, in a small village called Uden. I'm 19 years old and just starting to get a grasp of the reality that we're living in. Everybody does grocery's, so do I.
Currently, we have about 5 grocery shops that are ruling the market in our country.
I don't think that this is a good thing, but in the economy that we're living in right now, this is inevitable. These chains simply decide what I eat, buy and use. And I don't care that they do because the products that they choose are most of the times good. But the problem is that most of the products that are bought in these stores have enormous supply chains.Sometimes certain products have to travel across the globe to come to my little village.
In Uden, we have a small strawberry producer. He has his own little shop where he sells his delicious strawberry's. He is a real phenomenon in our village. But he's struggling to compete with the Jumbo ( one of the biggest supermarkets in the Netherlands). This is because the Jumbo has big deals with some of the largest strawberry producers in the world and they deliver cheap shit strawberries. The small producer wants to get his strawberries in the grocery store to give the public an easy way to buy his strawberries because he can't be open all the time. He has to give more than 40% of his profits to the grocery store, for it to be sold there. As you understand he is already barely surviving and to give 40% of his profits away. That is just ridiculous, so now he will just sell his great strawberries to a small public.
Why does it have to be this way?
Why can't it be easier?
Why does it have to be so expensive?
Is it possible that it is just a very inefficient system?
Let's sum up the problems we have in the current grocery market.
1. Owned by a handful of chains
2. Inefficient supply chains
3. They choose what we eat ( shit strawberries )
4. No chance for local producers to survive
The biggest problem of all
Its centralised
Solution:
Decentralize
How can we make this possible?
How cool would it be if you could just grab your phone, go to an app, choose your grocery's from the brands that YOU want, from local producers, but also international and have it delivered the next day? Personally, I would use this because I want to support our local markets. But currently it's just so damn hard. You have to drive over half the day if you want your grocery's from locals. This is just not possible and very insufficient.
All the things that I'm stating above and all the problems I summed up. These are all problems that we have in our current economic system. And that's not good, but the beautiful thing about the power we have as a community is that we can change this all with crypto and give the power back to the people.
Now let's look at the arguments people could have on this new platform.
How are you going to distribute all these products?
Is it more efficient?
And the biggest one: Is it cheaper?
1. How are the products distributed?
Through smart warehouses across the country where locals can supply their products.
2. Is it more efficient?
If a strawberry has to travel 50kms or 5000kms. Which one is the most efficient?
3. Is it cheaper?
Because the platform is decentralized there is no middle men. Only supplier and consumer. So we take out about 30% of grocery chain fees.
Conclusion
What would you rather want? A place where you buy your grocery's who selects the grocery's for you? Or choose your own grocery's. Which will be
1. Cheaper
2. Better for the environment
3. Support local economy.
I know what I would want, and you?
This idea is from a cryptocurrency project that I support because, I just think it's awesome. It's called INS ecosystem check it out if you want.
