Well now I'm really intrigued. I'm totally new to the cryptocurrency world and am a bit overwhelmed with the options out there. How do you vet a good currency source? Example: Potcoin vs. Dopecoin

looking into the development team to see what they uniquely bring to the table is important, but many times coins shoot up in price randomly and it is hard to predict.
usually the more research that you can find on a currency, the better it will be
for example...my favorite cryptocurrency is nexus, there are very succesfull people including former partners of elon musk involved with that project. They plan on shooting sattelites into space and creating an internet and blockchain that is independent of government
but i had to research them a bit to realize that the people behind the project were trustworthy and capable, and that they were bringing something unique to the table
on potcoin vs dopecoin it might be a good idea to put small amounts in both and see what happens..if u can afford it

That's fascinating about nexus planning on involving their own satellites! I never thought much about how extreme of a formation one of these would really take to be successful. It helps ease my concern of certain government entities just shutting down access to internet sites that operate on cryptocurrenies. I will be following you!
