Jirga system:
Jirga system is also called assembly of tribal elders and takes decision on issue based on consensus. Disputes between two or more are heard by this assembly of tribal elders. In tribal area the Jirga system is still used as a court for criminal.
Literature:
Pashto speaker have long tradition of Oral literature, like proverbs, stories and poems.
Written Pashto Literature rise in the 17th century due to Khushal Khan Khattak (1613-1689) with Rehman Baba (1650-1715) is regarded the greatest Pashto Poets. The first Pashto text was written in the period of Ahmad Shah Durrani (1722-1772) by Pir Muhammad Kaker with title of Ma’refal al-Afghani (“Introduction of Afghani [Pashto]”).
First grammar book of Pashto verbs is written in 1805 with title of Riaz Al-Muhabat (“Training in Affection”) by Nawab Mohabat Khan.
Second book of Pashto words with title of Ajayeb Al-Lughat (“Wonders of languages”) by Nawab Ullah Yar Khan.
Pashto Poets:
There are some great Poets from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
