Good morning/ Good evening all. I know you're a hard working on steem blockchain. In this blog I thought to share Sri Lankan traditional customs when they celebrated on 13-14 April every year. We all have different kind of cultures and customs for identification. I believe this information interesting who love to find other cultures like me. I write one by one.

Putting oil pots

Another important custom of the year. The women of the neighboring houses gather together and observe the auspicious time at the chosen place and touch the pot of oil. Mung Kavum, Athirasa, Azmi, Kavum, Naran Kavum, Kokis are some of the most interesting stories and actions that take place. It is a noble custom that reflects the fertility and harmony of the village life. Above all Italic words are sweets. These days don't make like these sweets. So I upload pictures from internet.

Preparation of flower plants

It is a custom to welcome the "New Year's Prince" before dawn. Flowering plants, made from coconut leaf, hang on three or four wooden poles as the sun rises. Traveling to relatives homes.

They will bring fresh rice to the far-off relatives, and they will be carrying coffee, dew, cakes and gifts. It is no secret that in the past, cattle, farming equipment, crop crops, new seeds, etc., were filled with carts to give to relatives. This is a great occasion for the children of families who have been away for some time.

Viewing the New Moon

This is a tribute to the moon. This is because our ancestors did all the farming based on the lunar month system. The new moon lovers cheer, clap their hands and communicate the event. It is also an ancient custom to taste something sweet, like honey and sugar.

New Year Milk Rice

Mother cooks the rice for years. It is the daughters who support the mother. The son's support along with the father will be greatly appreciated. The family is also coming together to make the Sinhala pickle, which will be celebrated on New Year's Eve. Seven vegetables with nuts add great flavor to the rice. Value. The secret of the fragrance emanating from years of unity is the unity of father and mother.

Work catching

The New Year's auspicious time is another important ritual. It is very beneficial to start the work by cutting down a branch of a tree with a kettle of milk and taking it to the ground near the flower plant. It symbolizes fertility. Here's hoping that they can carry on their jobs. The work is done by both the father and the mother.

Eating food

Every day, the family eats all the food at different times and places. The New Year's Eve table eliminates all these obstacles and allows all family members to eat at the same time. The New Year's table is also in line with the auspicious time. The first thing to do is to bow down to the sun god. Then, along with the mother who feeds the family head of the family, the father and the eldest sons and daughters, all of them eat food. Its purpose is healthy wealth.

Ointment of the head

Expecting a healthy life for the rest of the next year means heading into the auspicious time. Even today, the village temple chief is the chief monk. The next chief is the Sinhala Veda in the village. Healthy wealth is sought throughout the year by the hair of many wise older people.

It is worth noting that many of the festivals of the festive season are played by our women. The female characters are the most prominent in sports such as pancha keliya, kadju keliya, onchili keliya, olinda keliya, raban keliya and hide combs. Keliya means some game. Some of main object focused for those games.

At the same time, it is our woman who guides the whole New Year traditions such as distributing food and sweets among the neighbors, renewing friendships, entertaining relatives at home, and raising her children as parents. She also cooks milkshakes, pioneering in the New Year. It is evident that the woman has been given the highest position during the Sinhala year.
